Need suggestions on this build

Thread Starter
I am just wondering if this build is okay.

http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=22648848

It needs to be no more than $1000 and include all of the things that are already listed.

I guess this will mainly be used for gaming.

Looks alright to me.

Edit: Actually, I'd suggest switching out the HDD for a 1TB Western Digital Caviar Black.

Why? The F3 is a good HDD especially for the price.

Also, I second the 6850. It's a (slightly) more powerful card in general.

your case is out of stock.

I would get another PSU
These all fall within the 79.99 you have on your original build. The 650w Corsair is your best bet.

I would look into getting a different case. There are a lot of cases under 100$ that are great cases. This would free up money for you to put more money in a PSU or GPU or RAM. There are a lot of good PSU's in the ~100$ range.

Dsiagree, the case is way cool, but I like black

Lian Li quality is second to none ....

If you really look around you possible can get a 465 cheaper and flash it to a 470.

with the money you save I would buy some faster RAM

If you have a microcenter near you I would suggest getting either the i7-950(199.99) but then you would have to change your motherboard and your ram. Or getting the i7-870 there(229.99)
http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0346210
http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0319779

For power supply I would suggesting getting a Bronze Certified one if you want to keep it at that price.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139020
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817151096

Also if you have a microcenter near you, this case is really good and its $50 cheaper than your other.

http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0310583

As for RAM on the i7-870.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-180-_-Product

I would possibly switch your GPU to MSI N460GTX Hawk GeForce GTX 460 for the exact same price it has 780 MHz vs 725 MHz.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814127518

That puts you at about 1100 for the i7-870

If you switched to the i7-950 and wanted to keep going towards the microATX motherboard you could get the ASUS Rampage III Gene for (194.99 after MIR)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131658

If you went for a regular ATX motherboard i would suggest the Gigabyte UD3R if you have microcenter (189.99 after MIR)

http://www.microcenter.com/single_pr...uct_id=0327331

then I would suggest Mushkin Radioactive RAM
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-181-_-Product

This would put you at 1135-1140 for the i7-950.

So here would be your final builds only if you have microcenter:

for i7-870
http://secure.newegg.com/WishList/Pu...umber=15675712

for i7-950

For an extra 50 bucks why dont you upgrade to the 560Ti instead of the 460. Stay more up to date.
