To be honest you could spend a couple months browsing this forum and pass an A+.

srsly, tell him to sthu because he talks absolute nonesense.

4Gb is recommended minimum, but generally, your GPU uses its own memory, to avoid using system memory...

I think he's trying to convince you not to buy dual cards, because your system will wipe the floor with his if you upgrade to two cards. Don't listen to his bs

Is this the same guy who suggested a monitor had to have a "compatible with Windows 7" sticker on it to work?

I only have 4gb of RAM in my PC, running in 2x8 PCIE ports (my board is 1x16 PCIE but downscales to 2x8 PCIE when running dual GPU), and I run dual GPUs. I have no performance problem either. I can run Crysis at max settings at 1080p with 30+FPS.

Your friend is wrong. Sorry.

I wouldn't want to take advice from someone who cannot admit when they are wrong.

You did the right thing by getting a majority opinion over a single one.

Your i5 doesn't even have a front-side bus.

That alone should show you he doesn't know what he's talking about.
