hey guys. atm i dont want to add another 580 on because i was thinking of jumping straight to a 590.


my question is.... will the 590 be able to do surround without another card?....as in the card itself only.

It hasn´t even been confirmed yet if the GTX 590 even will consist of two 580 chips.
And even if it does you can be certain that these chips will be extremely restrained in their hardware and clocks because of the 300Watt power consumption it has to pass and therefore it will not be able to perform even close to GTX 580 SLI or GTX 570 SLI level.
You will be lucky if the performance will equal GTX 560 SLI.


Matching to the above posted link this video..in which the correspondant clearly states the card onl has 2 GB which indicates 2x560 and not 2x580!.

Most reports provide specs as 3g of ram. Speculation is that its downclocked Dual 580's
