AIM Accounts Compromised

Thread Starter
Hey all,

I went to log in to my messaging accounts this morning and got error messages for two of three AIM accounts as saying the account/password doesn't match for either of them. I've had the passwords saved and auto-login set up on them for forever, so it's not like I've made a typing error. Just to make sure, I re-entered the information manually and I got the same error. The third screen name connected fine. This was through the IM+ app for Chrome OS.

I've tried signing in on those two accounts from other protocols and I have yet to have success from Android apps or from traditional programs (including Pidgin, which still has my credentials saved) on my Windows laptop.

The one account that's still working is the one I actually use, so that's not the problem for me. I just have the suspicion that someone may be using the screen names to message people I know.

Is there any way to get the passwords for the accounts reset or the buddy lists cleared or the accounts flat out disabled since I don't intend to use them anymore?

Provided you still access the e-mail account that you used to setup the AIM accounts, you should be able to get a password reset sent from Aol.

Make sure you change it to something different and secure, you may wish to revisit some of your other passwords too, as there's no telling what's been compromised.
