Ipod Touch 4th Gen Jailbreak (LETS DO IT!!) - Page 2

Thread Starter
I believe I understand the necessary risks involved with jailbreaking my ipod and I could give a damn about the warranty. There are also other benefits to jailbreaking your ipod besides free games. For example the newest ipod has a 1ghz processor and the current OS does not use all 1Ghz of the processing power until you jailbreak your ipod. Also from what I understand you get a mouse, I am sick of tapping around so a mouse sounds sweat as well as your battery drains faster. Obviously this is just based on information I have researched.

Moving on to more important information such as details, good call labbu63 that is a great question. The file is a .ipsw file and the program is called redsnow here is a link for instructions.

Apparently I am suppose to open or run the .ipsw file in itunes and it should reinstall everything on my ipod. So far no luck, still looking for answers. Thanks again,

Kerby

You can google your software version and download it that way instead of extracting with itunes. Then run redsnow, browse for the software that you downloaded and redsnow will do its thing. Redsnow will ask you to install cydia. Make sure that option is checked and follow instructions after that. Once cydia is installed you will have to re-run redsnow because cydia will not open. Once you run redsnow again, just check the option "boot teathered now" and you should be good after that... There are all kinds of videos on youtube to show you step by step how to jailbreak...
