Q6600 overclocking.

Thread Starter
I'm wondering how I can overclock more than just 3.0GHz on my CPU. I have a Scythe Yasya CPU Cooler, I added another fan to it to cool it more, so it's sandwiched, the air is blowing into the CPU, and venting out to the sides. I can only achieve around 3.0GHz, with it being stable. I know the Q6600 is more capable than that. Any suggestions? I have a P5P43TD/USB3 motherboard by ASUS.

Increase voltage/fsb and monitor temps.

I did increase the voltage and FSB, but no luck. I figured out the problem now, it's the CPU Clock Ratio, or something like that. But thanks for the help.

We use the same processor. I wanted just a little more than the 3.0Ghz so I went to 3.2Ghz.

Here is the set up.

FSB 400
Multiplier x8
Voltage 1.3Ghz

First monitor the temperatures. If its okay then try IntelBurnTest with these settings..
Stress Level: High
Times to run: 10
Threads:4

If its stable try going for 20 runs but wait for the temps to go down.

If ever not stable just bump the voltage by one notch then try again.

I hope it helps.

I have your same Cpu cooler albeit with 1 fan only.

I have achieved 3.8Ghz on my q6600, with 1.42v LLC enabled and 9x multi 423fsb

if that helps.

I'm testing this right now on Prime95, it's currently at 3.5GHz and it gets to 65C max. I'll be trying to push this to 4GHz, if possible. I'll definitely try 3.8GHz with those settings, thanks.

Sorry for double post, not sure how to delete my last post.

But anyways, I can overclock to 3.6GHz no problem, I can't go up to 3.8GHz or else it becomes unstable. I could do 3.7GHz, but I have obsessive compulsive disorder when it comes to odd numbers, except for "5".

3.7Ghz is very good for that chip. I have my Q6700 at 3.7Ghz, around 1.4vcore. I can't get 3.75 stable even at 1.5vcore. I get the x00000124 BSOD which is supposedly vcore, so I'm stuck. I've managed to even play some BlackOps for about a half hour at 3.8Ghz, but it eventually blue screens around 30 minutes or so.

Good luck, but I'd be happy with 3.7Ghz on that chip. I doubt you'd even notice a difference of another 100MHz or so anyway. Keep her stable and run it til she burns.
