my temps used to be that low with my 920. dont forget were on 2 seperate archetectures, 1366 cpus run hotter in general due to them being 45nm chips, while 1156 cpus are 32nm. in your opinion how would you correctly seat the block?
put a small amount of tim then mount the block. the mounting pressure will spread the tim.

keep in mind that air bubbles can take weeks to leave.

i7 870 is 45nm , if anything this type of chip runs hotter than a 920 .. iv seen 920's hit 4ghz on stock voltage yet i need atleast 1.4v ... sandy bridge is 32nm i wish i had SB =(

How have u applied ur thermal paste ? it should be applied like so .. and only like so.

have a watch of this too.. at 1:20

Make sure u apply abit of pressure to the block when screwing it down , try and get it as tight as u can without going overboard and stripping the screws ..

If done correctly u will see nice temps ..

Btw , have u taken out ur cpu to check if its concave ? you might want to consider lapping ur cpu now u have a rasa .. could impove temps 5+c depending how concave ur cpu is cos ur block might not be sitting 100% level against the cpu and that creates air pockets which requires more thermal paste ..

Its a frustrating job getting the seating right , i had to do over 15 times before i was happy with my temps .. U have to hit the sweet spot!

good luck =)

well maybe my chip is just a hot one, but I do know the temps were about 5c cooler a few weeks ago. I applied the Tim in the center in a ball and pushed down hard, then tightened the block on. I lapped my cpu a bit the day I got it, just enough so that the edges turned copper, and the printing in the middle came off, but most of the cpu is still silver. I know its probably a little concave, but the lapping should have taken care of a lot of that.

Not only did I not waste money, but I actually broke even with selling my old cooler. Actually, my 920 with my old cooler idled at 41C and with the rasa idled at 35C. So I think it was worth it. its this damn 950 thats giving me these problems but at least im stable at 4.3ghz with the 950, the 920 could only go up to 4ghz
