.lnk files not recognized

Thread Starter
I just built a new AMD system with the following specs:

-AMD Athlon II X2 245 Regor 2.9GHz 2 x 1MB L2 Cache Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core Desktop Processor
-ASRock M3A770DE AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD Motherboard
-A-DATA Gaming Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory
-Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit

I am new to overclocking. I was using the ASRock OC Tuner for the first time last night, and bumped up the CPU frequency from 200MHz to 210MHz and hit go. After a couple of seconds, the computer froze. I waited a minute or so and nothing. So I reset the computer. When Windows came back up, every shortcut on my machine is broken. They are all .lnk files. I do not know how to fix this issue and it is very annoying. If anyone has any known fixes for this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

Sigh.

Please do not use software to OC. It not really that stable, learn how to OC in the BIOS.

You can just recreate your shortcuts. Delete the old ones and make new ones. The registry key for them is HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\linkfile but I'm not sure if that will help anything. I just know that because I have it set so that the shortcut arrow does not show up.

Or try a System Restore.

And don't use that software. You probably OC'd the ram too far and it became unstable. Read a guide before you start.
