I7 six core?

Hello,does the i7-core are actually using six core or they are quad core? Also does the i7 socket 1366 quad core use triple chanel if the mobo is triple chanel?Thank you forward

The i7 "Gulftown" series chips are 6-core, aka the 970, 980x, and 990x. All of the lower 900 series i7's (Bloomfield) are quad-core. And yes, socket 1366 motherboards all have triple-channel.

the i7 970 / 980 / 990 s are six core / 12 thread cpus

all the other i7s are quad / 8 threads or just quad cpus.

and yes tripple channel for i7 1366 platform

Only 1366 has 6cores right now (aside from AMD), and triple channel is optional.

i7 970, i7 980x and i7 990x are hex core cpus, all else is quad. all s1366 can be runned with triple channel...

ya i7 970,980x,990x r 6 cores/12 threads
lower ones 920,930,940,950,960,965 extreme are all 4 cores/8 threads
and again lga1156 i7 860,870,875k,880 r all 4 cores/8 threads
and yes u can use triple channel with lga1366 socket(aka i7 9xx) chipsets but its optional....u can use memory in dual channel mode too....

Thanks for all the replys! I think the i7 six core is a bit expensive almost 600$ for the 970 =/ , so for now better go for the quad core isntead

u r on lga1156 socket already and have aquad i5 so why do u want an i7....
if u r desperate for i7 then taking i7 8xx is better coz they will be compatible with ur current mobo and socket.....
