All I have to say is good for Notch. Guy created a pretty awesome game and he is expanding to make himself some more "change". I don't see why he wouldn't bring Minecraft over to the Andriod market but maybe he is testing the waters with iOS first? Maybe he will do some more hiring and pick up some good app designers and have them start building it for the Andriod and "all its fragmentation issues" or maybe Notch is a huge, secret Apple fanboi and will laugh at us all soon for thinking he would go to Android. (let us hope not)

Actually, the iPhone/iPad are fairly middling as far as performance goes.

Every Galaxy S phone, the Droid 2, the G2/Desire Z, Desire HD, Thunderbolt are all faster in every way. In fact, pretty much every non-budget Android phone on the market is faster. Even my Desire has a faster CPU and more ram than the iPad.

Minecraft uses JOGL, so its going to require a rewrite anyway. The question is: would you rather do in Java/C++ or Objective C?


This just doesn't make any sense at all. I can see an iOS version coming out after the Android version, but for them to just drop everything and do a full rewrite on a restricted device makes no sense.

If this is due to the release this year then, the 2011 gen android phones have 2x the computing power of ipad.

Also, apple will make this a key feature of the ipad, "come play the hit game minecraft only on Ipad".

Still you can hardly blame him apple probably payed him £10 million startup.

Ouch. Java to Objective-C more than likely. Hopefully he enjoys vomiting. Hopefully he'll do it in Dragonfire SDK or something similar. I wouldn't wish Objective-C on anybody.
