[CVG]Minecraft coming to iPhone, iPad - Page 7

Poor guy has to code in Objective-C, pretty much the main reason I will never develop an iOS app. I'll stick to good old Java thank you. This is good news for me and my ipod touch.

If you want to play Minecraft on iOS you're going to have to pay for it again, because Apple restricts developers to the App Store. There is no way they are going to let Mojang offer Minecraft with a built in launcher/payment system. Its going to get rejected, just like the Sony eReader.

Had they done it on Android they could have offered the app through their own website, with their own payment system, and done validation through the launcher, so it would be just as secure as the PC version. They could also perform regular updates and allow their users to skin/mod the game just like on the PC. This is simply impossible on iOS because Apple doesn't even let you look at the filesystem.
That's true. But he can make in app purchases if people care that much to modify the game.

How is that giving apple fans a bad name? It makes perfect sense to put the program on a device where many apps are free and many you pay. Unlike android where it is known for free apps so it is probably harder to sell apps on the android platform to a certain extent.

Hmm? You don't like Objective-C? After learning VB and dabbling with VC++ I love the Objective-C syntax (as well as XCode 4, not so much 3 though).

Do you think Notch wants to start charging iPhone users for skins when the PC users get it for free? When Apple takes a 30% cut?

And this whole "Its android so everything is supposed to be free" thing is garbage too. Many apps on Android are free/ad supported because of compatibility issues.

There are a lot of paid apps with 100,000+ downloads, and there are more ways to sell your app that just relying on the market. Eg. LauncherPro is free, but the full version requires an unlock code. I can see something like that happening with Minecraft.

Doesn't seem Google likes that.

I'm sorry to go off topic, but I swear, 95% of your posts involve you bashing Apple. Literally, they do. Don't you ever get tired of it? I know I get tired of reading it like the rst of the forum.
