maybe when you put something in it broke some connections on the mobo, its definitely not a CPU problem.

Did you try resetting your bios? Even try shutting down, unplugging, hold power buttin down to fully discharge and remove the cmos battery for a couple minutes...put it back in and power back up.

you havent really lapped it very well :S could be dust on the cpu so making connections dodgy

Static would kill the CPU altogether and it would not turn on. I am pretty sure this is not a CPU problem, because a CPU might have a memory channel issue but nothing like this.

Yeah...that too. Get some canned air or blow a bit around the socket/cpu pins. Maybe some dust bits in there
post #17 of 40
CPU problems cause instability (i.e. blue-screens, random restarts, etc), or boot issues. They do NOT cause video problems.

YES! GLORY BE TO GREAT MOTHER GAIGAS! The DVI at the end going into the monitor was not secured tightly! Stupid me! Now for temps and overclocks! Joy Thanks to all who have helped me since I first bugged out about copper vapors

also air dust your gpu and it's ports and the mobo could be metal fragments in one of the ports or on the gpu connecting things.

As other people have already said, likely not a CPU issue. If it is, you win "Most unique CPU lapping fail of the year" award. (dont worry, we all have our momenta )

Looks like video or mobo to me.
