I heard a squealing noise from my computer, so I took out my psu and turned on the pc so I am sure its the psu i know its not the fan because i stopped the psu fan and the noise was still there, I want to know if this is bad and could it harm my system?

Well,

I know you get capacitor squeal on GPU's so it might be the same thing in this case. Either way you could just contact corsair, they have epic customer service.

I'm assuming you used a second psu to test.........

But this is common on Corsairs. See if you can convince them to rma it.

yes but could that harm my system in anyway or is just going to make that noise?

I seriously doubt it. If it's just capacitor squeal you'll be fine.

Sound is notoriously difficult to diagnose. It could be the fan bearings, or capacitors (though it doesn't really sound like the squeal I've heard), or any number of things.

It's unlikely to be anything that harmful, but if you are worried there really is no reason not to try to RMA the thing. It's a bit timely but will save you a lot of worry (as sound is something you'll be noticing for a long time) in the long run.

Hey man, I had similar problem and it went away after disabling C1E. Is it enabled on your BIOS? If so, try disabling C1E and any other power saving stuff (c3/c6 state and EIST for example). It's kind of weird but its worth a shot, right?
