Noob Trying to Unlock Extra Coors

Thread Starter
Hi Guys,

I am a total beginner to anything like this. I apologize in advance for not searching the forum, but i'm not sure where to start.

I recently built a new comp. I read the reviews on Newegg for my processor:

AMD Phenom II X2 545 Callisto 3.0GHz Socket AM3 80W Dual-Core Processor HDX545WFK2DGI - OEM

It says that it is possible to unlock extra cores. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could point me towards some directions on doing this. Or if this will catch my comp on fire. This is my MOBO:

BIOSTAR A880G+ AM3 AMD 880G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

Thanks for the help!

Jon

According to newegg, it is possible.

At OP, you need a mobo that has the unlocking feature.

What are you intel guys talking about ...

Yes, you can unlock the 545 but i wouldn't take the bet. You get what you pay for, if it unlocks to a tricore or quad then that's good for you !

You need to go into BIOS by pressing Del key repeatedly when the computer boots up. In there look for Advanced Calibration Clock option and select all core then you're good! To see if you have unlocked any core, go back into the BIOS and check your CPU name and cores, etc. Good luck, you have around 50% of unlocking any cores

Look to the ACC functionality in the bios. It will likely hold your hand through the core unlocking as Biostar advertises that board's ability to unlock.
