Gtx 470 & 1000 w !!!

Thread Starter
hello everyone..

Yesterday I was overclocking my GTX 470 but unfortunately my Computer can't turn on any more.. something got fried , and I think it is
the stupid PSU ( coolmax 600 W ) ,, I don't know what happened but the system isn't working now !!

however, I wasn't getting enough overclocking for the GPU ,, when I reach 730 core clock the system freeze and the screen goes black like it has been shutted down...

Do you think the problem was from the PSU ( not giving enough power or something like that ) or the problem from something Else...

Anyway, I'm going to buy a new PSU with 1000 W ... which one you advise me to get ....

Why get a 1000W PSU? Your system can run great on this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817371030
1000W is hardly justifiable unless you have THREE 470s.
The Coolmax 600W was obviously a piece of crap -- like most if not all Coolmax units.

First of all, your Coolmax isn't really a 600w PSU, more like a 450w at best. Not to mention the PSU is down right horrible. I have the 550w version and it died within a few months in which Coolmax USA sent me another PSU that eventually died soon after the warranty expired.

1000w is overkill. Get something like this or this (if you want something partially modular).

i am overclocked to 4.4ghz and my SLI 470's are OC'ed to 800/1600/1700 and don't have an issues as far as power. also running a CPU loop. maybe it was just that your psu gave out.

i think that newegg was having a psu sale or maybe it was microcenter.

I've done calculations with eXtreme PowerSupply calculator .. and it says you need
a 450 W PSU .. ( I don't know ,, but i think it's not enough )

Ok ... your point is ,, i don't need a 1000 w .. ok .. I will look for 550-650 W antec..

the one you have mentioned above with 550 w i think it's good .. i'll go for it ...

Unless there is better than those above ...
