Lol. Legal for Sony to make that the option? Yes. Morally wrong? Yes. Does Sony/justice system care? No.

Imo everyone makes too big a deal over the OtherOS fiasco. I'll lol when in a few months Sony simply re-releases it or an alternative all nicely patched up, and then people STILL complain because "it's not the same "

You have no idea how happy i would be if they re-released it. Fully functioning ps3 again=Epic WIN!!!! I am not a hacker, in fact the ps3 hack is the first hacking(if it truely is considered hacking) i have ever done and will prob ever do again. if the ps3 releases a update that allowed otheros i would have no problem.

Who is to say it won't? Wherever there is software there is a security hole or bug. Wherever there is a security hole or a bug there is a patch or fix.

true but if sony takes almost a year to be able to "patch" the security hole in otherOS, i really dont think they ever will fix it.

What they should do is eliminate the OtherOS from being able to make any changes to the actual PS3 OS. OtherOS should be able to use the PS3 hardware but not the software, at all, ever. Make it some kind of insanely encrypted partition.

That way, no cheaters/hackers/nubcake losers on PSN, and the 13 people that actually used OtherOS could be happy. Everyone wins

you mean sony should do what they should have done in the beginning? But i do agree with you, except i know more then 40 people that used it. Alot of friends in college use otherOS. Just cause you dont know about it does not mean its hardly used. and again, hacking/cheaters have been around since day 1 of PSN and will always be there. this hack is not the reason for all the hackers/cheats on all the games you have been playing for the past 3+ years.

IE, this hack that was introduced 3 months ago did not make it possible to travel back into time and screw with gamers 3 years ago...there now its out there and people can stop acting like this caused the black plague and get there heads out of there asses.

Never said that this hack was responsible for the hackers 3+ years ago. However, since it was introduced, the cheating has become an extremely wide-spread problem, and exponentially increased within that time.

As for OtherOS, I know some folks who used/used it as well. But let's face it, the majority of consumers that buy a PS3, really don't care about it, have never used it, and never will.
