Im sorry i dont mean to be rude, but at some point you need to be able to tell yourself is the investment really worth it, really, no matter what the water is not going to go below room temps, so you are limited there, even if you pu 10 more radiators the temps wount change you know

Yeah I will probably cut down on quickconnects in the rebuild of 2 loops as I won't be changing much for a while after that.

They certainly restrict flow a little, but I was really suprised how much flow I picked up changing CPU blocks. The Apogee GTX is a really high restriction block compared to the Koolance 370, i can't measure it, but the flow meter in the res is turning noticeably faster and thats with an extra Rad in the loop too. Maybe 50% better flow with the new block.

This has dropped water idle temps by 1.5c to almost ambient temp now, and CPU load temps by 5-6c in a couple of quick tests i did last night.

CPU was idling 2-3c lower at between 38-41c per core and peaking at 81c compared to previous 88c but thats with 2c lower ambient than when I ran my last testing.

Im just about to test video card load temps with Kombustor to see how the increased flow has impacted temps there too.

Hey yeah your right, but if you've read this far you probably realised its not about investment or cost, its about ultimate performance with the quietest system possible and just a little bit of geek factor.

The rads have a cooling rating of 1400w each with high speed fans.
That for me defeats half of the purpose of cooling in the first place if you have half a dozen fans blasting at 3000rpm you may as well use aftermarket GPU and CPU air coolers as you dont really gain much of an OC with water unless you go extreme and use high speed fans.

So with 4 x 360 rads and fans at about 1000rpm i can support roughly 1100W continuously.

I realise I've blown a lot of cash on this but its a cheaper hobby than my last one. I spent stupid amounts of money modifying an Audi S4 twin turbo extracting 350Kw from it and continually breaking things on it for over 5 years. This is massively cheaper comparitively and I get to use this all the time and I can't loose my license or frighten the neighbours with it!

Very well said mate, I'm in the same boat as you. For me though, silent PC's are more of necessity; as I am forced to put a whole renderfarm for my business right next to the desk where I work. I too used to spend a lot of money on my car, then turned to PC builds as a hobby, then it eventually became a necessary part of my work (3D animation).

The quality of the block is fantastic. The concept of the fixed mounting posts to the backing plate is great, but it's execution is a little flawed.

When I tried to unscrew a mounting post after only going in half way, it snapped.

The threads on the posts and the plate are "dirty" so they dont go together easily.

Luckily my old mounting plate and posts was easy enough to use.

I have only done a very quick CPU load test and the temps appeared to be 6c better under load than with the Apogee GTX. Keeping in mind I have a 4th GTXrad in place now too.

The flow rate is also noticeably better with the new block too, I estimate it's about 30-50% better flow.
