[PCMag] Goodbye, Google Chrome Address Bar

That sound you hear is the silent death of Google Chrome's URL bar—or at least, the contemplative consideration of such over at Google headquarters in Mountain View, California.

An email sent to the Chromium developer mailing list by product manager Jeff Chang indicates that Google has, "a number of UI / frontend efforts under way" for Chrome, including the potential removal of the address bar from the standard Chrome interface.

How do they intend for me to enter in an address? Without the address bar, the chrome window becomes almost empty.

Interesting, but I like my address bar the way it is.
I guess for smaller screens such as netbooks this would be nice.

Doesn't look very descriptive. Perhaps they want the browser to go to google, then in the search bar you type in the URL.

I don't know if I would like that. Would take some getting used to probably.

Edit: It's the thumbnail image at the very beginning of the article. No, it won't go to Google then you type it in.

READ THE ARTICLE!!!

This is actually a good idea. I can't count the number of times that I've entered an address in, only to do it in the wrong tab. Solves this problem.
So what they are trying to do is implement the address bar into the tabs, if this happens bye bye chrome for me, and hello IE9.

Sorry but I like the address bar where it is
I hope they at least give us an option to stick to how the address bar is now.

If they do this and there's no way to go back to the default url bar, I'm never going to move to chrome, even if it catches up in addons.

I'd probably get used to this, might be nifty after a while.
