With the arrival of USB3.0 I don't see the need for eSATA anymore. eSATA was such short lived I don't think anyone would miss it. Firewire has been around longer than eSATA and new mobos don't support it anymore.
I have 6 USB external drives, 1 USB card reader, USB Mouse and Keyboard, I need one USB for my Phone, 1 USB for my Saitek X52 and Xbox 360 controller, ... do the math son!!! I need UUUUU SSSS BBB!!!
