Halo Reach Multiplayer - Page 2

When I played it, I didn't find it laggy at all. The gameplay is fast and responsive, it's very fun to play. The only problem is, if people on your team or the other team leave the game, the game keeps going so it can end up being 4 vs. 1 sometimes.

I say buy it preowned and give it a go, the challenges system really gives you something to aim for - it won't fail to please.

I think the game is great. Best multiplayer since Halo 2. There are really no concerns with lag unless you are the one with network problems. Otherwise, if you are in matchmaking and the host becomes laggy, it automatically pauses the game and searches for a better host. Much better than letting the connection be lost and all your earned kills/credits go to waste.

Also, the battle rifle is not overpowered as it was in the previous games, so it feels much more balanced.

They did a poor job with bloom and balance. That's all I have to say. Slow and frustrating for me and many others. Halo 2 was and still is way better, hell even Halo 3 puts itself above it.

That's just multiplayer wise, generally.

Campaign is amazing.

i agree that halo 2 was the best. If they just fixed the super bounces, BXR and the BXB it would be perfect. OH, and the plasma pistol needed a nerf, HARD.

Regardless of BXR and BXB, which I find really useful and difficult to master, it stands out amongst the other Halos.

Reach is worth your 30 bucks, of course. It's the reason (Halo in general) why I have a Xbox.

And honestly, that you like the game mechanics or not, it's one of the most balanced game I've seen (weapon wise, etc.).

even when i got my 42 in that game i still could not master them. They made my life hell on halo 2. I was hoping that it would be fixed so bad, but they never did. Oh well though, reach is a ton of fun and if 343 comes through with their remakes then I will have the Halo 2 that I have always wanted.

My short review of Reach:

Overall the game is fantastic. As I have played the Halo campaigns dating back to the original, and read all the indy novels (inb4nerd) I have to place huge weight on the campaign (storyline, content, factual accuracy, etc.) and I thought this one was fantastic. The perfect combination of getting your gun off and emotional, involved, dramatic storyline. The campaign AI is nearly perfect, and I love that the insane difficulty is actually... insane. I only wish it was longer (although it is very long already!)

The multiplayer is also very well done - although of the two the campaign gets my vote. The hit registry in this game is extremely accurate (which you place value in if you have EVER played CoD lol) and the lack of aiming down sight adds a different element to the gameplay experience. The recoil is realistic, to the point where burst fire with full-auto weapons is a necessary evil in order to hit... well, anything. Power weapons are the best part of this game - honestly. the lack of people spawning in with overpowered weaponry gives a perfect balance to the game. Players actually have to fight to get powerful weapons - which adds almost a secondary element to the "kill everyone and everything that isn't the same color as me" motif. There is a wealth of both competitive and socially engaging objective types (basic team deathmatch, free for all, CTF, etc. with fun modes like Grifball, Infection *zombies*, Headhunter, and Invasion). The playerbase is a mix of both competitive and laid back players - and on the whole considerably more mature than the Call of Duty kids. The arena (competitively ranked multiplayer) is a great zone for very hardcore fpsers, and it really leaves the Pubs open to the more casual gamer, which is really enjoyable. My only complaint about the multiplayer is that after a while, getting caught in rooms full of grenades and or people pulling the classic "shoot-rush-shoot-rush-MELEE" approach can get a little repetitive. Overall though this element is hardly noticeable when you compare it to all the fantastic things about this game.

I don't need to go in to detail about the experience, and progressive unlock systems - suffice it to say that the armor customization alone, while offering no in-game bonuses (thank goodness) gives incentive for everyone.
