To create incredible power requires incredible energy. After all, the more power one puts into a laser accelerator, the more powerful and precise the light beam that comes out on the other end. During a private tour of the Jefferson Lab in Newport News, VA., on Friday, FoxNews.com saw scientists blast unprecedented levels of power into a prototype accelerator, producing a supercharged electron beam that can burn through 20 feet of steel per second.

Sounds like they are going to need an A Scale Nuclear Power plant to use this thing... lol (Fail?)

They will power it with nuclear power. It will be powered from the battle ship's reactor. Even though that seems to be a crap ton of energy required for using this technology. For those Ships, it is almost negligible, per the article.

Great read.

Or the next best thing, a 480 without a heat sink.

Great read.
1. US don't have anymore battleships.
2. Only aircraft carriers and subs have nuclear engines.

Also the Enterprise will easy be able to power this.
