I want open and closed at the same time! - Page 2

And all the closed headphones discussed here and around the same quality/price would definitely benefit from the amped sound card? None of them would still under perform because its not a standalone amp? The last thing I want to do is drop another $100 on an amp after dropping $500 on card+cans.

Get vented headphones. Only a little bit of sound leaks out.

As long as your card has an amp it should be good. My titanium HD does up to 330 ohms, and I think the Essence supports 500-600.

It's not so much the leakage of sound, more so the lack of bass and ability for outside noise to interfere. Because of how big an upgrade any of these will be for me, I doubt I'll be able to notice the difference in open vs closed when it comes to gaming. I may also look to spend a little less.

I'd recommend the HT Omega Claro Halo and the A700s (my current setup biggrin.gif). A great sound card with decent cans. Then, if you like them you can save up for a nicer pair down road.

If you went Audio Technica I would say grab the A900s and be happy with them. I think those are the best cans you'll find for under 200.

However, if you have the money I would STEAL the AKG-702s. I would KILL AN INFANT for those headphones. axesmiley.png

The DT990s from Beyerdynamic are also really good. You can't go wrong with any of these headphones.

Remember that I'm looking for closed headphones.
I've heard that the a900's are seriously lacking in bass.

Does anyone know a good place to just demo high-end headphones? I'm in northern VA near Herndon.

A900s are closed headphones. They're great for bass. thumb.gif

Check out a review of them.

The DT880s are clearer sounding, but the A900s give you more bass. Decide what's more important to you.

You must be thinking of the AD700s or something. Those are seriously lacking in bass. The a900s definitely are not lol.

I'm actually now considering the Beyer's DT770 line, but with so many to choose from, I haven't really shortened the list.

Has anyone experienced the difference between the Pro 80 ohm version and the Pro 250 version? How does this compare to the Premium 32 ohm version and the Premium 250 version?
