lol - benchmarks have nothing to do with bottlenecks. You either have one or you don't. At which point you can chose to care or not care, but that doesn't mean it is or isn't there.

Your best bet would be a 1090T then, if cost isn't a big issue.

It should allow better overclocks, and better NB clocks as well. Overall best performance for sure (excluding the 1100T)

Though you'll still experience a bottleneck in many games, it won't be as bad however.

don't upgrade, yes, you will always have some kind of bottleneck, huge or minor, in your case minor, and thus no need for any changes, overclock as much as you can/want and that's it
you will be bottlenecked untill you have quad 980x and octo 580 sli lol (and then you will be bottlenecked by ssd :-p)

clearly you did not get what I meant. everybody knows that at high resolution even a lowly cpu like a athlon II x3 will perform on par with an i7. looking at the resolution that he is playing at he won't experience any bottleneck. at higher resolutions the GPU will always be the bottleneck unless you have a multi gpu setup.

Idk about that being true inevery game. I saw 50% increase in fps in gta iv by going from a athlon II x2 be at 3.6ghz to the 955 x4 at 3.2. Some games are CPU heavy as well.

You really should get off your high horse sometime.
You might find that us dirty peasants know a thing or 2 about computers too.

I dont see a Phenom II 955 @ 3.6Ghz bottlenecking a 6950. At least not to a degree that warrants complaint.
Im not going to rule it out, but Im hard pressed to see any quad (intel or amd) running at over 3.4 as a bottleneck in anything but benches or when paired with crazy Multi-GPU setups.
If he can demonstrate that it is truly bottlenecking with Afterburner and Task Manager ill reconsider.

A Phenom will bottleneck sooner than an i5 for sure because AMD processors cant output the same amount, but bashing his cpu, saying its bottlenecking, and recommending a 6 core to stop the bottleneck in games is pure lunacy.
Im not sure how 2 extra cores will reduce a bottleneck when they wont be used.
Are you aware of how an OS and a game interact to distribute load on hardware?
Do hex core Phenoms have better IPC per core than the quads?

Please enlighten me, for I own an AMD rig, so I obviously know nothing.

I'm not going to get into this again, and I'm not bashing anyones cpu.

He asked a simple question, and I gave a simple answer, that is all.

your system is fine at 3.6ghz. where is your cpu-nb at? i doubt it will bottleneck that 6950 that bad. if your games are playable...i thikn it should be fine. no need to upgrade unless you doing somthing else besides gaming.
