Updated OP.

Seems like the Slow Quad system is actually 16" and NOT 17.3". Also, there is a HD 4200 for switchable graphics and save power when the laptop is not plugged in.

Current standings:
4 for the Quad core
2 for the Triple core
0 for the AMD Dual core
0 for the Intel Dual core

the switchable graphics would be nice. im still kicking myself about getting a laptop with intel integrated with no upgradeability options. price was right tho. it was like 800 and came with 6gb ram, free wii, 17" screen (its in my sig, the monitor is wrong tho) and that was about hm... year and a half ago now. time to start thinking about an upgrade. oh, sold the wii for 200, so decent machine at the time for 600, and its still kicking quite nice, but cant game worth a shlock.

Sorry to hear. Maybe sell it off for like $400 on eBay and upgrade! I've found some decent deals for gaming laptops at ~$600 here and there at 15.6" or so.

I'm starting to like that Quad core Lappy even more. Apparently after reading 60 user reviews at Newegg, Anandtech's review, and Amazon, it has great speakers, backlit keyboard with 10 key (number pad), and MIGHT have an upgradable CPU from what one of the Newegg reviews stated.

This just blew my mind: Intel 2.13Ghz Core i3 330M matches and beats the AMD 1.6Ghz Phenom II P920 in most/all CPU benches. So close to the perfect laptop at this price...but so far away.

Benches of Quad core laptop:

Jeez, 30 FPS more than the AMD.... never knew the lead was so big.

Slightly better?
24493.png
As a fan of STALKER, it's playable at least, win!
24492.png

Seems like a winner (sort of...) even with a very low core speed. Looking at AMD benchmarks vs Intel is depressing. frown.gif

Intel is better for gaming because of the hyperthreading, but is more costly. In the OP the only Intel laptop is one with HD Graphics, which I can probably tell you right now will lag like crazy, I have actually stopped gaming on my laptop because the FPS is so bad.

If you can't move on the budget then my vote would go for the quad.

I'm still open to any recommendations. Those 4 are the ones I'm eyeing right now.

I found some Toshiba laptops with same everything with triple core and dual core AMD processors, but those models aren't in stock ANYWHERE.

But $50 more with a rebate and it's HP...

Just a few other notes,

7200rpm is slightly faster than 5400rpm you will see windows load faster.

If the 17.3" is actually a 16" then i would maybe go for it.

Update time! Below are the new laptop choices ignore the old three.

The AMD Quad Laptop will cost about $560 after tax. If possible, I'd like to buy something <$600 on Amazon where I don't have to pay tax. (Woot no tax on Amazon! biggrin.gif)

Slow Quad, Fast Graphics, Good Screen
16.0" Toshiba (Actually 16", not 17.3")
Phenom II P920 1.6Ghz Quad Core
ATI Radeon HD 5650 AND HD 4200 for switchable graphics
500GB 5400RPM
~$560 after tax

Fast Dual, Fast Graphics, Good Screen
15.6" Acer
Phenom II N660 3Ghz Dual Core
ATI Radeon 6650
500GB 5400RPM
$580

[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Acer-AS5742G-6846-15-6-Inch-Laptop-Black/dp/B004ETSGIQ/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top"]Amazon.com: Acer AS5742G-6846 15.6-Inch Laptop (Mesh Black): Computer & Accessories[/ame]

Fast Dual, Fast Graphics, Good Screen
15.6" Acer
Intel Core i3 380M 2.53Ghz Dual Core
Nvidia GT 540M 1GB DDR3
640GB 5400RPM
$650

Do those two new laptops look like they'd perform similarly, but one is a good bit cheaper. I'm not good with laptop specs. Had to check Notebookcheck so many times. Only other major difference besides those listed is that the Acers have terrible speakers while Toshiba has great stereo speakers and backlit keyboard over the Acers.

Thanks OCN for the help so far! I really appreciate it!

Bump for a little bit more advice/input.

Can anyone compare the build quality of Acer and Toshiba?

Random thoughts:
It comes down to aesthetics/functionality (think I got that right) over pure performance. The Acer has better graphics and the fastest dual core from AMD, but has junk mono speaker and it's Acer.

The Toshiba has great stereo speakers and a backlit keyboard over the Acer. For some reason, the Toshiba feels like it's higher quality in terms of durability or sleekness. Not what kind of quality Toshiba has, but I imagine it's better than Acer. A quad, but at half the speed of the dual core. The graphics card is similar performing compared to the 6650M (I think about 80-85%).
