Good point, forgot about that. The iPhone came out in June 2007. The G1 (first Android phone, T-Mobile exclusive) came out in November 2008 in the US, over a year later.

Except not because with Apple you don't get any extra quality of luxury (as a matter of fact, you get less). With a Ferrari, at least, you'd be bathed in luxury.

Try again.

I don't know about that, most of the Apple devices I have used have been of very good quality. My GF's Mac is far, far, far better build quality than my laptop. I've not used an iPhone 4, so I cannot comment on how it stacks up against my Desire (which I don't think is a great build quality).

Equating Android OS to Ford (and subsequently iOS to Ferrari) is one of the most laughable things I've ever read.

Apple's view of marketing is far different than Google's, and it always has been. Apple will do something different now, before anyone else has thought of that particular way of doing it. They will market the hell out of that one singular product with no variations other than possibly color assortment (and then make a huge fuss about it once colors are available!). They will continue to do so for the next 18 months, all the while neglecting their competition in the market. Their competition, which is now Google, will unveil at least 10 alternatives that are in at least one way superior to apple's product but at the same time being so different that they're not copies of each other, giving consumers choice over what they want to buy and use. Apple will respond with commercials with Justin Long (well, maybe not anymore).

Google will continue optimizing and expanding their operating system so that manufacturers can be more creative with their phone design. Apple will in turn release a rehashed version of product a, it will be either smaller or at least sleeker/more minimalistic looking, but largely offer nothing more than a cosmetic upgrade and some slightly different hardware improvements over its predecessor. Both companies will market their product, Apple grossly overpricing theirs and Google more accurately pricing theirs for people to be able to afford. Both products perform roughly the same. People buy the Apple product anyway, because they know someone that knows someone that loves Apple and slanders anything that isn't.

The only glaring mistake from the Android side is their carriers locking down what can and can't be done, mostly circumventing the entire point of an open operating system. Well, that and the Backflip. Jesus what was I thinking when I bought this thing? But seriously, when your phone costs several hundred dollars and does amazing things, do not equate it to a Ford. Ford is the phone that is still not a smartphone, unless specifically talking about its very non-commercial models of the GT.

Android already has the global lead, but now they have it in the US.

This is big, since the US is Apple's home turf, whereas there isn't a single Android manufacturer based in the US. Its like if the Xbox 360 outsold the PS3 in Japan.

Apple's Reality Distortion Field™ (RDF) is limited by distance, and isn't as effective in Europe or Asia.

Actually Motorola is American, not sure if I read what you meant correctly.

Frequently when I hear about bad experiences with Android the person has a rather outdated Android phone. There's this one douche that I love trolling on my Facebook. The only Android phone he's ever even touched is a G1, yet he somehow claims superior knowledge on everything that Android can do and that every Android phone has that annoying lagging scrolling affect. I dropped a Youtube link of my HD2 (not even an Android phone) running Android UNDERCLOCKED without that scrolling lag, and he never seemed to respond to that.
I have a Samsung Intercept. Not a top-tier phone, but it's certainly not a junk phone.

It's not scrolling lag, it's when I push my finger up to scroll, sometimes it instead acts as if I've selected something...

Overall I'm on the happy side of indifferent.

My biggest disappointment? It's sad to see that other than resolution, gaming hasn't improved on smartphones in a decade. My SMT-5600 / C500 WM2003 phone was better for gaming.

I agree on the gaming. Hopefully the new Xperia Play and Sony's PSN offerings will change that.

Have you ever thrown a custom ROM on your Intercept? I'd strongly advise you to try it, it'll make a world of a difference! You have an Android phone, use it for what its purpose is!
