I've dropped my iPhone 4 face down on concrete and not a scratch. Some people are just unlucky. I don't even have a screen protector on it. I've even kicked my phone when it's falling and it's fine. I also make calls perfectly fine, and get faster speeds than all other networks in my area. Now, downtown Los Angeles is a different story. My friend and his Evo demolish my speed with 4G.
That's because the iPhone is under the lime light when a new one comes out. I'll admit it. I had to take my OG droid back in cause the power button would only work if you pressed it really hard. My "new" (refurb ) one has issues with the headphone jack. I do notice my aging hardware is slow compaired to new(er) phones, but I have root overclocked from 500 to 1.2ghz custom roms and I still love it! I'm sure many many many people love their iPhones as well. I just personally don't like iPhones due to them being locked down there's not much customization in what I've seen! Not bashing iPhone at all it's just what I've witnessed first hand Plus competition is wonderful!!!

Yeah, I know. But, once you jailbreak the possibilities are pretty much neck and neck.

I'll put this flame suit on, since I'm going to be called an trolling apple fanboi.
That's Apples choice, if it ends up losing them marketshare...well, they chose it.

Obviously Android is going to have more market share by simple virtue of market volume. Duh.
There may be more phones, but personally, when I go for a phone I choose over the OS...Sure, the iPhone may have a better camera...that's great, I don't take many pictures and the Android may have faster hardware...That's great, not much uses it and sure, WP7 may have minimum specs and centralized updates, but MS can't code if their lives depended on it, the OS makes all the difference no matter the phones features in the end, the OS is the thing you use every day and Android just feels better than iOS and WP7 to me, it may be different for others and only a fool would think his opinion is the only right one.

Apple won't be overly concerned with the market share as it's rather biased towards those with the most phones. However, I think it will cause them to innovate a little more!
And some people love the interface of WP7.
Although I don't get why anyone would want incorporation with iTunes (Slowest. Media. Player. Ever.) and as someone who uses both iOS and Android quite regularly, Android is as easy to use and predictable as iOS, sure, it may have been harder to use and a tad unstable around 1.6 (For lack of a better word) but even as of 2.1 that was really turned around.

People don't look at the phone much these days, they look at the software or the brand more than the specs, tech communities like this just aren't normal users and look more deeply into phone models than others.

eg. Those 10+ Android models would go down to 2-3 if the person buying wanted a Samsung phone, and if they wanted a high-end phone? There's only 1 high-end samsung phone...

Except it doesn't work when you take into account that the OS makes most of the difference, so effectively a Fiesta would be not much worse than a GT or a Ferrari for most uses, which isn't anywhere near true. (Eg. You'll see the difference driving those cars quite easily, whereas unless you're gaming or doing some other stuff that really requires horsepower in a phone, you won't see the difference between say, a HTC Wildfire and a Motorola Atrix.)

The iPhone is made from glass and metal, it's suicide if you don't get a case for it.
And quite honestly, Macbooks don't feel that well built to me apart from the Aluminium, there's been plenty of issues with them (Overheating, cracking, etc) which leads me to believe that the superior quality is mainly from people going "Unibody aluminium? Sweet!"
Although with laptops, you can't really lose between Apple, Samsung and Lenovo.

Apple's Reality Distortion Fieldâ„¢ (RDF) is limited by distance, and isn't as effective in Europe or Asia.
You'd be surprised, heaps of people here get iPhones and claim they're better than Android by going off my G1. (Which barely works thanks to a combination of a cracked screen, been walked into a pool, etc)

Still, my G1 only got buggy when the screen had a crack in it AND it had been in water for a good half an hour, it works mostly fine but some of the keys on the keyboard need to be pressed more than once and the screen doesn't always turn on properly.

A pass is a pass... is a pass. This is about market share, doesn't matter if iPhone only has 4 phones (5 if you count the new one for Verizon). That's Apples marketing choice. There is no defense or point to saying Android has more phones than iOS.

No one is going to make a market report and say Ford outsold Ferrari, that's just being ignorant. A more intelligent individual will compare Ford to Honda or something along those lines.

I will add that it is impressive that with the amount of phones Apple has VS a load of Android phones. People like change, variety and personalization. Something to fit what they can afford. Apple ruined it, in my opinion, by being exclusive to one network for so long.

Fact is, Android is now passed iOS, simple as that.

Actually it'd be the equivalent of saying Honda passes Ford, seeing as Apple was first to market.

Definitely 100% untrue in Australia. 80% of the phones I see everywhere are iPhones - it's not even exaggeration. At work it's probably a 70/30 iPhone/BlackBerry split.

Source? I'm pretty sure Nokia is #1 worldwide. Seriously, Android is a small time minnow in Oceania at least. No idea how it's so big in the US.

I'd also wager that people who get Android phones don't necessarily make a conscious decision to do so unlike iPhone consumers.

Considering google has 50 billion differet androids and apple keeps it simple with 2 versions (usually a black and white), this doesn't surprise me at all. Google's prices are cheaper as well.

I think youll find that the factories that make Macs with there "superior build qualty" are made in the same factories with the same tools, same factory line, same people as 70% of other pc laptops, the "superior build qualty" is a myth that only apple people seem to latch onto
