Partition Nightmares

Thread Starter
I have decided to make a partition to keep windows separate from everything else, so that if theres ever any problems, wiping and reinstalling windows should allow me to keep all my files separate and hence unharmed.

While that all sounds fine and dandy, internet explorer and windows media player are refusing to work properly, and my battlefield says its missing some .dll file. Borderlands seems ok tho, these two take the longest to install so I decided to keep them just.

So Im guessing this might be because I went into the registry and changed the default install directory to the D: drive, to keep windows fresh, but maybe Ive done this too early before the two programmes have "bedded themselves in" if theres even such a process.

Does anyone know the best method for me to use in keeping windows separate? Is it even worth my while?

Any comments appriciated
