Best way to plumb a 5970 with 5870?

I don't know why but thought one of the fittings would line up on these XSPC waterblocks. Kinda threw me a curveball when one of the fittings wouldn't line up as I only ordered one 45 degree fitting. The way I routed the tubing was an after thought as I wasn't prepared last night for one of the fittings not lining up.

The reference backplate didn't fit over the block right either and when I tried notching it with my snips it just snapped off in chunks. I guess the backplate is cast aluminum and brittle. Anybody else have problems with the backplate with XSPC 5870 waterblock?

The hinged door with my SSD's will not close now because the two closest to the hinge are hitting the 5870 waterblock. Could probably leave the SSD's where they are but would have to put the 5870 in top slot and 5970 under it.

you have a lot of free drive bays there
why not more the ssd's to the front

or you can do something like this

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-014-_-Product

you'll need 2 of them but it will work out nice

I have a Black Ice GTX radiator and a dual bay pump/res in drive bays. The top two drive bays has my dvd drive and fan controller.

unless you plan to get tons of rotary fittings then what you have seems to be the best option without spending $60+

You could go for something like these koolance sli links I used on my 2x5870 to a 5970. The 180degree link is from their ram cooling kits.
