Advanced Micro Devices, AVG Technologies, a developer of popular free anti-virus software, and Digital Delivery Networks (DDNi), a PC ecosystem company, recently announced an agreement under which AMD boxed processors (also known as processor-in-a-box or PIB) will include a paid subscription of AVG anti-virus software.

Customers in English speaking countries who purchase an AMD PIB product will receive a free premium six-month license of AVG anti-virus with AVG Online Shield designed to enable safe downloading or online chatting, which costs $35 for a twelve months subscription. AVG will work together with DDNi)to include a mini-CD preloaded with a free premium six-month license of AVG Anti-Virus for distribution with each AMD PIB product.
Getting a virus from online chatting?
I wasn't aware this was 1998 and we were all still using AIM!

I will admit that AVG isn't all that bad, but it's such a fatty when it comes to resources.
I would have gone with the sleeker MSE suite....

Aw AMD, come on, AVG? Why not avast!, it's the best AV that's available for free, ranking #2 against paid ones as well.

and LOL at the irony - my X4 640's box is sitting here right in front of me

I use AVG and i like it well enough, i use it in combination with Spybot - Search and Destroy, Malewarebits, and ReqScrub Vista (Which in facts works with Windows 7 too) and nothing gets by me, if AVG gives me a Warning, i check said files with Malewarebits and Spybot and if both of those give me a clean scan i put the file on the Resident Sheild Exception list. If AVG gives me a warning and Malwarebits or Spybot gives me a warnign too, i delete it, empty recycle bin, delete temp files (which i do often anyway) and then normally do a scan just for good measure.

To Ice:

I got my 955 box sitting on top of my desk next to me too.
