[XB] AMD to Give Free Antivirus with Boxed Processors. - Page 9

just uninstall dammit.

Malwarebytes is the only security I got, along with a Keyscrambler. Even if a virus gets on my PC, it won't get jack. I'd rather have no antivirus now anyway, they're pretty useless and more or less all the same these days.

Also using normal crap Windows firewall, because Comodo and other "better" firewalls are a pain in the backside to use, since they ask you gazillion questions about every single file that comes installed with your games (and block some of them without your permission).

I think it'd be a better idea for AMD to give us either some coupon for a discount on an AM3+ motherboard, or to pack a decent aftermarket cooler instead of the crap stock one.

Yeah, the system would end up so infested it would be as fast as a rock. ESET is the purest garbage.

AVG is trashware, 9 out of 10 computers that come in for repair because of infestation have AVG installed.
The other would be McAfee. Especially that McAfee scanner that downloads with flash.
Which screws up the AV software you have installed.
This is a huge bad business move for AMD, just as McAfee is a bad business move for Intel.
AMD is trying to copy Intel in including AV software...bad bad move, on both companies.

I don't see why I would want to get a virus scanner included in a processor purchase. I'd rather get something useful, like some free memory or an SD Card or something. Virus scanners are just something that one can easily download and run, no need for a giant box that will include an obsolete scanner, because virus scanners are updated continually - and it will be obsolete while that box is on the truck...
