Hybrid CFX question

Thread Starter
I bought a Asus M4A785-M motherboard and a Asus HD 5450. Will the Crossfire X work with these products since the board has a HD 4250 video chipset and the card is a 5 series?

Also, if it does work, would it make a difference?

Btw, this is a HTPC build.

Thanks.

iirc the hybrid xfire mode will only work with a pci-e hd2400

the 5450 would be better than the onboard+hd2400 in hybrid xfire mode anyway

Don't think so. I'm not sure what cards the onboard hd4200 would work with but probably only something in the 4000 or 3000 series. A better stand alone card will give better performance. My board has onboard hd3300 and only does Hybrid Crossfire with a 3450 IIRC. Buying a good card would cost only a bit more and provide better performance.

So just use that 5450 by itself (or return the card and get a 5550 or 5570 or 5670 for a bit more).

For HTPC the 5450 will be fine.

From this thread it appears that the HD4200 only does Hybrid Crossfire with the HD3450 and HD3470.

So the answer is still no. It really is a useless feature.

Ok, cool.. If it works it works, if not, hopefully the 5450 will suffice. If not, then i might get a 4650..

I bought one of these this weekend from Fry's but it couldnt even play 1080p videos from youtube without stuttering.. So, i returned it and built a HTPC like I was going to in the first place..

parts

motherboard
cpu
psu
VC
Case
Bluray
DiNovo
I have the a 2 GB kit of corsair Dominator 1066 5-5-5-15

What do you guys think?
