Help with FPS in MMO games please.

I'm an avid gamer, however I'm not to computer savvy..
I had a friend build me a rig a little over a year ago.

I was wondering what I can do to increase performance and FPS in the MMO games I play.
I recently was playing the RIFT beta and several players reported 60 fps on high/ultra graphic settings. I was clocking in at 30/40 fps on medium/high settings.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time and I apologize in advance for not having tons of computer knowledge.

Dude,

I downloaded the rift beta and I only got about 45FPS maxed on my sig rig. There are still a few problems with the Graphics engine by the looks of things.

They're liars. I was getting bad performance when maxed out on my rig too. There's no way they had the game maxed out including AA with a solid 60 fps.

I saw the people you're talking about too. One person would complain about lag and then three others would say their mid-tier machine was maxing the game out with 60 fps. Don't believe it.

Oh ok. Good to know and thanks for the replies.

Anyone know if over-clocking my rig will help ?
Never done it before.
