Cooler Master SickleFlow 2000RPM & NZXT Sentry 2 Fan Controller

Hey guys,

Just bought two CM-SF's for my H50 in push/pull, along with an NZXT Sentry 2, before I just had the standard H50 fan on in pull, with a Casecom Blue LED fan in push, and there wasn't much noise, whole system seemed very quiet.

Now, after applying some Chill Factor2 Thermal Paste to my CPU, and installing the NZXT Sentry 2 fan controller to my two new CM-SF's, my GTX 470 (Zalman VF3000F) and 2x 180mm Silverstone Case Fans;

I booted up as normal. The noise was horrific. The difference is ridiculous. CPU went up from 37C idle to 46C idle. The GTX 470 (which already has a fan controller for the VF3000F which I disconnected) has gone down from 49C to 39C (at every fan setting, doesn't budge). The CM-SF fans even reduced to 40% fan speed are very loud.

I'm starting to think I've just wasted money! The NZXT Sentry 2 is fantastic, I love how it's so easy to use and install, but I'm starting to notice that it may not have been a good idea to connect every fan I have up to this thing... I may be better off just sticking with the Corsair H50's stock fan, and NOTHING else.

Really really annoyed at the sound increase... I hope I've installed everything correctly... Surely it can't be this bad?

Anyone else had similar issues with the CM-SF fans? I've bought shroud's too, but they haven't come yet. I'm hoping they may reduce some vibrations and some noise... But my god, my GTX 470 is making some noise now, it vibrates like a biatch! When I isolate each noise, they're equally as bad as each other, and my H50's pump has started to buzz.

I'm literally fed up, and cannot wait to get rid of this H50, after hearing so many good things about it, I bought it, but it's been the worst part of my computer, as has the GTX 470.

If anyone can give me any advice on what to do, that they know is quiet & cool, at minimal cost, please feel free to advise.

Looking to change the GTX 470 with an HD6950. Looking to change the H50 with a Zalman CNPS9700NT, and the two CM-SF's with the SilverStone Stock fan that came with the case for exhaust.

Regards,

Roxborough

I have a pair of SFs. They are not quiet fans but by no means are they ridiculously loud.

Hmm, maybe it's just cause they're in push/pull? I could try and post a video up of the difference? But it may take an hour or so!

Sounds like you have a bad seat. I had a 4.0GHz i7 930 @ 1.38v running at 70 degrees max load under prime. My 2600K runs 66 degrees at 4.8GHz @ 1.44v at max load under prime. And then I moved to an H70 and knocked ~7 degrees off and moved to Ultra Kaze 3000's. Trust me, the sickles aren't all that loud.

Edit: Idel for the 930 was ~35 degrees and the 2600K ~28-30. Those temps are in Celsius. Ambient temps are 68-74 degrees F.

God dammit, I never have any luck at all, I wonder if the Chill Factor 2 Thermal Paste needs time to cure? It says it doesn't... Hmm...

Just got my shrouds in the post today, and my screws aren't long enough to fit them on! There's no-where that sells longer than 25mm screws... frown.gif What am I going to do? Shiznit.

Get a rasa 240 or 360 kit wink.gif

No local hardware store has longer screws?

I ended up putting motherboard mounting screws onto the radiator and popping the shroud over it.

The CM-SF's are still exceedingly loud, my Girlfriend can't stand the noise, I've taken them out, reinstalled them, tried again, still, lots of buzzing, too much noise.

I'm looking to replace them! Can anyone suggest some decent fans for the H50 that they "KNOW" work very well? Without crazy noise?

inserting redundant comment as: Gentle Typhoons AP15's.

I like the looks of the fan controllers too but i would never trust them to one, being if kids are around a magic finger could change the speeds rendering a disaster...
I leave my CPU cooling to internal controls for that reason..
