THIS. I was hoping someone in here would be able to tell that it's a photograph. Everybody should take a look at it again and think "photograph" instead of game footage.

Got any good links for Blender, I am looking to start using this program and its one hell of a learning curve.

I also opened up the Source SDK and closed it after 30 mins of just sitting there trying to figure out the button layout and how to make things from it.

I think the mod tools are fine as is, but valve really knows where the games at, If they were a publicly traded company i'd throw down as much as i could into them.

mods for pc games keep the game alive for years after its released, and valve knows this, why create their own content when the community will do it for free. Valve is great by themselves (most of the time), but their community of modders is amazing. <3

an easy way to recognize a photo from an art piece or a 3d graphic is to look for imperfections in the materials / objects etc.

That picture clearly has way too many of those little imperfections to be a 3d graphic using current techhnology.

I found Hammer to be one of the more easier SDK's to use. What I think they mean are the more tedious steps you need to do currently are either removed or quicker/easier to perform.

Example, selection of a certain entity can be quite difficult and frustrating when you are several hours in and you have thousands of objects. Or maybe a smarter engine that automatically fills gaps in walls, instead of resizing and moving objects then having their textures clash... or even fix glitchy lighting by making it more dynamic rather than static points(that seems to plague a lot of custom maps).

Can go on forever.

I must say, it's both hilarious and frightening that people are convinced that a photograph is a 3D-rendered image. Not insulting the intelligence of people, but just saying that it's hilarious and frightening because we've gotten to the point in technology where we have to debate whether something like this is real or fake! Think about it.

Source SDK is one of the easiest tools to use once you're used to it.
I was one of the many, many devs helping with Zombie Master ^_^
