Overclock E8400 + P5K-Pro - Page 3

The reason for the 1066 is so you can run 1:1 with your FSB. If your'e setting a RAM multiple higher than 1:1, you'll put the 1066 out of spec and have memory failure again.

Set the RAM multiple so it's 1:1 with your FSB, then keep bumping FSB to OC your CPU. Set the RAM voltage to whatever the manufacturer recommends for them.

So for 4.0 your memory will be running around DDR2 889. If you can reach 4.2 your memory will be 933.

1.31VCore is still low, you've got plenty of headroom. What voltage are you putting on the NB?

Thanks, this is a good learning curve for me!

Just a note that my VCore is 1.35625 - is that still ok? I didn't want to take it to 1.36.

I've left the NB & SB Voltages as Auto, I didn't want to mess around as I have no idea what the effect would have been.

Thanks for your assistance, much appreciated!

Jason

You should bump the NB. Maybe start 1.3, see if increasing it helps to around 1.35.

Ok thanks, I've just tried that, up to 1.35 now but Prime95 reports a hardware failure within about 3 seconds. Is it worth increasing the CPU voltage slightly?

Thanks,

Jason

I've just tried running on FSB Freq 420 (3.8ghz) and all seems stable enough but after around half an hour running Prime95 it errors out, which is better than running at 444, which usually happens after a minute or two, or even sooner.

Should I up the CPU Voltage slightly till it works better or is there another option I'm overlooking that will help this situation?

Thanks,

Jason
