570 installed.. Keeps going out.

Thread Starter
I recently upgraded from an 8800 GTX From PNY. This card never messed up on me. I bought a GTX 570 from PNY recently and installed it, no overclocking or anything; pure stock. It seems as if my drivers are screwy; I installed the ones off the CD that came with the card and on restart the screen will boot up to windows 7's login screen and let me log in. Once logged in however my card (or monitor?) stops receiving signals and nothing works.

When I do not have any drivers installed the computer is stable, it's running cool right now and at first i saw "A driver has stopped working. This has been resolved" or something to that extent pop up; I did the registry fix to stop this from happening yet my card is still not operational.

I have tried 4 different driver versions and have used driver sweeper to remove them in safe mode and do a full reinstall. The problem still plagues me.

Help please!

Also just a note the computer itself is not shutting off. I also have a 1250w PSU and an I7 processor.

Another thing, it seems to boot perfectly fine into Safe Mode. I can even see the drivers installed, it does not have a yellow ! on it, says its working fine.

Try reseating the card. checking if the correct cables are plugged in, if it gets enough amps, is not overheating etc.

You should not be in ANY circumstance be installing the drivers that came with the card. You pop in the cars, windows recognizes it, download drivers off the website and you are good to go. But as the others have stated, try reseating the card and putting it in another pci-e slot.

I agree that installing drivers from the disc is generally not the best idea because they're typically out-of-date. But ... they shouldn't break anything.

It's better to get the latest drivers from nVidia and install those.

You should definitely NOT rely on Windows to download the best drivers for your card though.

I wish I had something more to add OP. I think your card might be defective. It's not uncommon for a defect to only show up when the drivers are running, which doesn't happen in Safe Mode, or before you sign into Windows proper.

Pretty depressing. I have no idea what to do about it, I can't believe a card would only malfunction when the drivers are accessing it.

I find that after installing the drivers it asks me to restart, i accept, it restarts does the windows 7 swirly loading logo and then just goes black screen or my monitor loses signal. RMA time I guess?

I would return it to the retailer you got it from, assuming you are still within the typical 30 day policy. I don't know where you bought it from.
