Acer GD245 (3D) vs DELL U2311h (IPS)?

Need a Good Low-medium budget Monitor for my new PC gaming Rig running on Evga GTX580 on Sandy bridge i7 2600k
Screen must be around 23 inches
i will be buying 2 monitors one now and a second one later in spring-summer
the first need to be cash friendly

Narrowed down my search to theese monitors

Acer GD245 (3D)
Alienware Optx Aw2310 (3D)
Dell U2311h (IPS)

As my first monitor i cannot go alienware because of the higher price
but i can afford it as my second monitor later.

Will buy the 1 monitor this week
either Acer or Dell

Compare:

1. Acer GD245HQbid (3D 120hz) (the black one not orange):

Price 299 euro + shipping

Pros: 120 hz 3D
I have already a 3d compatible blueray player
Acer is second best 3D monitor after Alienware in my opinion

No lag and ghosting whatshowever on Acer:

120hz excelent for playing games without any lags

Cons: Need 3D glases but since i will not watch 3d movies now i wont buy those glases yet. just want to play games like Crysis2 and mass efect2,dead space 2, webrowse , play some dvd/blueray movies

is a TN panel hence not so good graphic as IPS
also the viewing angle not so good as IPS

Price is 299 euro more expensive that the dell that cost 225 euro.

Have to turn off Overdrive when not playing cause overdrive on acer not good on webrowse (heard it somewhere cant remember where)

Acer not so high-end brand but sure they still growing just like samsung did some years ago.... so maybe acer is becoming a better brand?

2. DELL U2311H (IPS):
Note: I will get the R02 second revision version

Price 225 euro + shipping = around 250 euro total

Pros:

IPS = fantastic color much better than TN panels
Design very good
can higher/lower the monitor and it look rocksolid
180 viewingangle
Excelent warranty pick up monitor exchange it

Cons:
8ms lag , so not perfect for gaming but....

still pretty good for games because of IPS+overdrive
anyway is still a 60hz so no 3D (but wont watch 3d anyway yet )

I dont expect to often win in games or max out FPS
just want to enjoy gaming with high graphics.

I often read people returning their Dell monitors because of dead pixels
is dead pixels that common on Dell or just so many people buying dell?
maybe acer safer not to get dead pixels?

This video show the DELL ips monitor perform quite good on games: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8gevdZOuvWs[/ame]

So this hard decision
What to choose:
IPS:good graphic+wide viewangle vs 3D+120hz for games decision

SO...............
What do i do Go for that ACER 3D or DELL IPS?

MY OVERALL 2 MONITORS CHOICE:
=============================================

What to choice:

1) Dell U2311h (now) + Alienware AW2310 (later summer) = 1 ips+1 3D monitor
2) Dell U2311h (now) + Acer GD245 (later summer) = 1 ips + 1 3D monitor
3) Acer GD245 (now) + Alienware Aw2310 (later summer) = 2 3D monitors

It's up to you, IPS is good for gaming and everything else.. while the other monitor sucks at other stuff but is good for gaming I guess. Theres no ghosting on my monitor.. so there shouldnt be any on yours, that's just bs tongue.gif I game on mine all the time.. I say go IPS since you don't care about 3D, I don't like 3D at all.

Yea but your monitor/s is Dell UltraSharp U2410 not U2311 right?
so maybe more ghosting on U2311?

Btw do you know if Acer GD245 is gloss or mate screen
cause i dont want glossy/shiny screen

You'd be mad not to go for the U2311H. I just bought one as a primary monitor next to my secondary Dell 24" TN. The difference in colours and vibrancy is amazing!

Thanks Alex98uk yea it seem very good monitor
but do you play lot of games?

btw Prices is important:
Acer GD245 : 299 euro + shipping = aroung 330 euro
Dell U2311h: 225 euro + Shipping = around 250 euro

save 70 euro on the dell

Btw the Dell i will not purchase directly from Dell but through a store where i purchased most of my pc piezes.

once you go IPS.......

I would definately go for the Dell. I know these photos aren't great, but they show the difference between my Dell 24" TN and Dell 23" IPS.

The IPS is top:

The second photo bellow look much sharper than the first photo
so the TN is sharper atleast when i look on those photos
since you say the first one that dont look so sharp is IPS

Could it be that the camera has hard to capture IPS screen
or is the IPS realy like that

I notice more like grains on the first photo
while the second look grains free
