Palit GTS 450 cooling options

Hey everyone.

So I am about 3 weeks in to owning my new video card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814261078

I think the card is great execpt for one issue... the fan is noisy! I was wondering if anyone out there has had the same issue and either replaced the fan or added an aftermarket cooler to the gpu. I was browsing on newegg and tigerdirect and was looking at all the vga coolers out there but was wondering about the compatibility with the cooler and the card. I'm a total noob when it comes to anything really technical, so any help will be much appreciated. Thanks!

Buy this then add this to cool your GPU. Those two items, plus one of these and 1 gallon of distilled water from your local grocery store is all you will need.

That's a little more elaborate than I would like to go, there is no point in spending more for the cooling equipment than what the actual card is worth. Would like to use a fan of some sort. Thanks for the input though.

Scythe Setsugen 2 is one of the very few coolers that fits the Palit cards.

Thank you so much, I will research this card and see how the setup for this cooler works.

I got an email back from the Palit customer support, they were rather unhelpful and in the future I would recommend staying away from "low-profile" cards unless you dont have the room for a standard size card.

Oh wait, did not notice it's a low profile card. That's something new for me.
Pretty sure custom cooling wont fit that, sorry.

Did you try changing your fan speed profile? Maybe you can lower the fan speed to a more reasonable level. MSI Afterburner can handle this.

Yes... I overclocked my gtx460 and upped the fan speed to around 70% for good measure..... just for a few hours of running a game... and one of the fan blades broke off lol. I was like *** seriously?!? andthen realized how brittle the fan was upon closer inspection. So I as well contacted palit customer support and they were useless. I don't think I will buy from palit again unless they improve their coolers and such. Anyways I have zip tied a regular computer fan to the heat sink and sadly that's working better then the original fan and shroud. Crazy eh? I wish they would just send me a new fan and shroud.
