This suggestion isn't bad at all! throw it a HDD and a case and you're set with a better system that your 775

Any Athlon II X2 will perform on par with a Core Duo, like E5700 or E6500, so as for dual-cores it would be the same.

Side note i wouldnt recommend unlocking the 4th core and pushing a crazy overclock on that board but since it doesnt sound like that is something your planning on doing its a non issue. Should be fine for 95w which is what the athlon II x4 is rated @.
