Thanks for the recommendation Sarge! Well, I used your recommendation and found a brand new GA-P35-DS3L for $89 on ebay.

Worth pulling the trigger?

Yeah, this is probably going to be your best shot at a good board. The DS3 are good boards for overclocking, the only feature it is missing aside from the X38 board is Crossfire but I'm sure your wife won't need it. But eBay is your last chance to find small shops that still carry them with whatever stock they have left.

I wouldn't hesitate to buy that board again (have two of them), but I'd still be nervous of an eBay board - no warranty. But yeah, it should treat you just fine.

The one I got from Newegg recently (ASRock P43DE3) is pretty good - Here's a CPU-Z result I validated a few minutes ago from this post:
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=1672922

The thing about the P43 vs the P45 chipsets is some features are disabled/not there and unless you plan on using Crossfire or something like that, one similar to this one will do. I haven't heard much of anything bad about what I have and so far it seems to be great.

I've been using it mostly in the same manner you want one for (General useage) and it should be OK for that too.
