[Steam] Dragon Age II Demo Live - Page 9

i don't like (REALLY don't like) the way the game has turned out, and if that's the way the second one is i won't buy it until it's in the bargain bin.

there are too many changes and it feels so bland as compared to the original, not to mention the over the top cartoon-like animations and attacks

AA is killing me in the game, i get horrible lag if i enable AA in Dx11 mode. I have all other settings on max but the AA just kills the framerate.

Also at times large chunks of the ground becomews invisible so i can see the uugly underpinnings.

This game seriously needs a few patches before it´s release.

Also the interface was horrible, felt like a hack and slash game not like a Blizzard RPG should be.
I´m looking forward to The Witcher 2 even more now.

Actually they do, they also support keyboards, different resolutions and different hardware than consoles as well, but that doesnt stop them from being console ports.

I loved the original game, but I enjoyed that gameplay in the demo seems more actiony. I'm not sure if I'll get it at launch though, I still haven't completed the DA1 expansion...

big fan of the first DA >> just played the demo of DA2 and completely DISAPPOINTED! Witcher 2 looks 10x better.
I just played the PS3 demo on the account that my 4870x2 has the potential to BSOD on flash videos yet alone games.

Comments on the game in general:
I like the game. The combat overall seems fun, though somewhat repetitive I suppose but if you mix up characters in the party it kind of defeats the repetitive-ness.
The story is intriguing to say the least. I particularly love the voice acting which is done superbly.
I havent played the first Dragon Age, which I intend to do the second I get my hands on a GTX590 cause I own it on STEAM. Which I forgot I had lol I can't comment on whether or not the game is "better or worse". Seems like some fans like iceblade above don't like it. Im curious to play Dragon Age 1 just for the sake of seeing it, but I have a feeling if I plan on playing DA2 I should just not play DA1 for the sake of being disappointed with DA2 like everyone else lolol

I do have one big problem with the game. The choices in your words. It's got the Mass Effect disease, specifically Mass Effect 2. The choices you're given sound NOTHING like what you say. Alot of the times, you choose your word choice and your character spouts out something you did not intend or want to say at all. I choose a neutral comment, and it comes out sounding a whole lot more worse or "bad" as the negative response was. It's like you either be SUPER nice about the situation or you be SUPER rude. You don't get an inbetween or a lesser of the two. I dislike that alot.

I can't comment on graphics all too much because I played the PS3. So any comments I make, Im not sure about whats on the PC.
Character models and animations are amazing. The clothing and faces are so well crafted and detailed. The voice acting paired with the phenomenal facial animations makes me so giddy - I love the little things like almost perfect lip synchronization to the words. The only blandness I could nitpick at is the hair of some characters (on their head) being super bulgy/stiff. Though, the hair on like beards and stuff looks pretty awesome.

AA is superb. It's becoming a continuing thread on console games - particularly PS3 ones - where the jaggies are close to nonexistent unless you specifically look for them in the odd cases where they do appear because of the method being used. I'm not sure what the game is running but I smell MLAA. Don't hold me to it. Either that or they got at least 4-6x AA or QAA going on here. There isn't enough jaggies for 4xAA and the framerate is pretty good for it to be 6xAA.

I just have two problems with the graphics. I hope that both are just console problems and that they aren't the same in the PC version. I hope someone can clarify for me. This one I think is probably the console only problem - the game likes to skip a bit during cutscenes. It'll sometimes stop, say "Loading...." a few times in the cutscene. Not too often for it to be annoying because it happens when the game switches from the past story to the present story and little elsewhere. Im going to hopefully assume this doesnt happen on the PC.
The second problem and less likely to be a console only thing but still highly probable is that the environments aren't all that detailed. They look nice at first glance but like the wastelands - everything in the background is completely bare and very bland. Im going to look for PC screenshots of these scenes to see if they compare at all because I have a feeling Im going to have to choose between PC and PS3, and PS3 might win because I wont be getting a GTX590 by the time this comes out.

It does say "Loading..." and wait in the PC version as well. I can't understand why this game makes that. I installed the game on a fast SSD drive but still wait like 2-3 secs for cutscenes.

You're kidding? I thought for sure that would be a console processing, hard drive, and data stream limitation thing.
Super lame. Guess if Im going to buy the game - it's going to be console.
