How much power?

Thread Starter
Looking to get a new PSU, my current PSU, Antec Iceburg is 650W but started making some fizzling noises about 6 months ago after a power outage and now i've decided to replace it. How much power do I need exactly because I don't want to spend too much. In fact if you guys can recommend anything good then I will appreciate it.

Core i7 - stock voltages
6GB - OCZ Platinum
ATI Radeon 3870
2 HDD's - 1 IDE 160GB - 1 SATA 600GB (Looking to get another one soon)
Thermaltake bigwater 850i
NZXT Tempest - has around 6 fans I think, I had to disconnect 2 of the fans to bring down the fizzling noise of the PSU and to be able to play dead space w/o it crashing

Thanks in advance

Not that much, the Neo Eco 400 this would do the job as far as I am aware unless someone else wants to put further input into this. Price went down $10 so I'm throwing this suggestion out like candy.

Corsair, OCZ powerstream, Antec, Coolermaster. These are all decent. I've used them all one time or another and only the Corsair has failed me once ..strangely enough. I had a similar setup as yours but I was running with a 700W PSU.

This. If you're in need of a PSU, you'd be stupid to not get that unit on a budget . The Neo ECO 520 is also only $39.99 free shipping. Even the 400w would easily power your rig though.

3870 is just a 105w GPU. Based on what you have, a solid PSU can pull 30a/360w should handle it. The question is what's next for your rig. If you are going to upgrade GPU soon, then we really want to know what GPU you will pick but for now, the antec eco 520w unit above is good and gives you some headroom if you go for a mid-range GPU.

Get the Neo ECO 520, it's at a ridiculously good price at the moment ($40) and will power any single GPU setup currently available.

CoolerMaster is mostly crap, they only have a few decent units. And OCZ's Powerstream series was discontinued years ago...
