XSPC Dual 5.25" Bay Reservoir question?

Thread Starter
I'm looking at this reservoir and just wanted some options on it. I'm looking to replace old Swiftech MCRES and this seems like a good idea for my 655 pump also so I can get it out of the bottom of my case.

I don't see a question?

Yeah it's a good res, it's not the easiest to assemble and maintain. Though it is built well. Doesn't have any large flaws.

When I upgrade my X20 pump, I will be looking at getting that as long with a pump. Haven't heard bad things about it.

It's just more steps to take it out of your system.

The Micro Res and some of the restops are just disconnect two tubes and you're done. This you have to unscrew and disconnect more.

the only disadvantage it may have is that it's not meant for small cases with multiple 5.25" drives in it. As long as you have the 2 free bays required for it you're OK.
Actually there's one issue with this res... and it's that it fits to tight to the case, I found really really hard to put it into the bays in my HAF932, and I know a friend with a ATCS840 who had the same problem with this res.
Maybe it's just a thing with CM cases, maybe it isn't.
But in the end, it's a great reservoir. Go for it!

Yea for the most part I just wanted peoples opinions on it. I could only find one post about in on here OCN one they talked about it leaking but it seemed to be an instillation problem. So my question was if anyone really had any problems with it leaking or not.

It's supposed to be a snug fit.. The little rubber pieces on the sides are meant to compress and absorb vibrations.. I popped my little rubber pieces right off intentionally and now the res slides in and out of my HAF932 like a drawer... Makes it easier to empty the res and top it off.. I run my 655 pump at setting 1 because I only have low restriction GPU blocks in my loop. Pump settings at 3 and above require the little rubber pieces or the res will start rattling in the bay.

Really, this res has two major problems and one small annoyance that I've found.
  1. It's a PITA to drain/flush the water out of it. You have to pull the whole thing out and flip it upside down. Which requires a bit of extra tubing.
  2. You cannot adjust the speed of the pump once the pump is installed in the res.
  3. It takes a long time for all the bubbles to work their way out (2 weeks, typically). The inlet flow and outlet flow are within centimeters of each other so bubbles just get sucked right back into the pump most of the time.

Other than those things, it's a great res..

Two things to keep in mind if you get the res. When you install the pump, make sure the o-ring goes around the pump - don't just lay it in the mounting bracket or it will leak. As for the long bleed time, cut a piece of tubing in half and insert it between the inlet and outlet and it should only take an hour or two to bleed.
