Image too big on Samsung 52' LCD?

Greets folks!

Long story short, I am trying to smoothly run my 52' Samsung LCD TV as a monitor for movie purposes etc. When I hook it up, the desktop appears too big (the taskbar is barely visible, most of it is "below" the screen). I set the resolution to 1920x1080 in the Nvidia control panel, the TV is in 16:9 aspect ratio mode, and it still doesn't correct the issue.

The only thing I have found to do is manually resize the desktop in the Nvidia driver control panel, but then it is not at 1920x1080 anymore, and it just doesn't seem like a real solution.

The setup is sig rig, GTX 460 SLI, DVI->HDMI from the computer to the TV.

Any help would be appreciated!

Try changing it from "16:9" to "Just Scan" under Picture Sizes. Hope this helps.

uh maybe the TV doesn't get the whole image? doubt that's the case since i've never heard of such thing on an LCD.

Also make sure your HDMI connection isn't bad as well as try using the VGA and use the 1080 setting

I had the same issue with a 37 inch LCD as well and could never find a fix that was satisfactory. I ended up having to use VGA yuck. Gl

Set the resolution in windows that will solve your issue. If that doesnt fix it then uninstall your video card drivers then clean with cc cleaner then restart and redownload and install the video card drivers. That will fix the issue if not PM me.

I had that problem to fix with a buddy's 42" Sony... had to go in the TV properties and change some settings... don't remember what.. Overscan feature or something had to be disabled.

Also, on some models you have to enable HD by going through settings and setting limited HD to off.

And another note: try going in there and ensuring zoom is disabled for HD image. My buddy had it enabled before he got the proper cable for his HDBox and it wouldnt work until he manually set zoom from automatic to off.

Hope that helps biggrin.gif if not... PM me. I'll get an email that way and remember to check.

This seems to have changed something..I am getting "more" of the picture even with my cable box now. I paused an image using my DVR, changed from 16:9 to Just Scan and I can see more of the image on Just Scan..going to re-hook the TV now and see if this was the ticket.

Will update once I try it out, and I appreciate everyone who posted here, going to get some +rep out as soon as I get done testing.

Update: Just Scan does the trick..thanks to all, rep should be out now.

Like i said PM me if what i suggest doesnt work. I have been using a tv as my monitor for a while now and have over come all these little challenges. Usually it is just your drivers or windows being difficult.
