Hotswap bays for 5.25" slots

I have 2 optical drive bays I'm not using, would like to make my drives hot swappable.

What would be really nice would be something like this 2:3 converter:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817994075, pretty much the cheapest I've found - but it's approaching what I paid for my case, which seems rather steep. And is a pretty awful product in any case.

These two individual bays come out to $31.72 shipped:

That's okay, I guess, but I'm wondering if anyone knows any good ones which are <$35 shipped? Or even better, have some they would like to sell?

Feels like niche product economics are really jacking up the prices of what are essentially some sliding trays in a metal box, a simple interconnect PCB, and maybe a fan at the back.

Hey if you need a 3 bay then your first choice is good. Although myself would go for the snt one. Its individual and over very sturdy and decent quality for what it will be used for. If your going to be removing on a daily basis then try to find an aluminum drive rack.

Note that if you buy more than 1 snt shipping goes down but i think you only need 2 right?

In either case coming from someone who has 16 snt drive racks in my server I say SNT

Oh Icy Dock makes the aluminum drive racks if you want better quality.

On a side note the SNT are 11.99 right now go for it. Once I bought them for 11.99 and then out of no where they went as high as 18.99 on the egg. So i waited like 2 months and then they went back to 11.99. Though in the mean time my server looked stupid not being finished.

Just a warning: I've read bad things about some hotswap racks working in tooless cases, like yours.

And hotswap racks are expensive, it's just how it is. Do you really need it? I feel like a jerk for asking that question, but what do you intend to do with it?

Yeah, I did go for the cheap SNT single bays, as essentially the only option at a reasonable price. I'm pretty satisfied with the quality. They're made out of a sturdy plastic, and have built in cooling fans.

As Raptor_Jesus suggested, they were a tight fit in those bays. I had to jam them in pretty hard, but the sliding locking mechanism worked fine in the end because the SNT bays have holes in the correct places.

The primary motivation for getting them in the first place was to get rid of the cage in the bottom of the case, which was squishing my 24 pin power connector and generally ruining cable routing and airflow in this rather small case.

I was in a situation where I was swapping out hard drives pretty frequently when I was transferring large amounts of data around, and dealing with a hard drive failure. I wanted a way to make that easier. I was also testing and benchmarking a number of older drives.

The bay also gives me a power button to shut off my secondary storage drive when I'm not using it. And they're both getting much more cooling than they were before.

Do I *really* need it? Probably not? But this is overclock.net. I mean, come on.
