Best Smartphone to Buy Off Contract with $300 Budget

Thread Starter
I have been without a phone for eight months now, but am looking forward to buying a new smartphone. Since here I can't make a contract until I turn 21, I'm going to buy off-contract. Also, I don't like being tied down. However, my budget is limited to around $300. I like Android (though not much), but I prefer webOS and WP7.

For that much I can get:

LG Optimus S: $300
Used, but in excellent condition Palm Pre Plus (AT&T): $175-200
Used, in good condition Palm Pre (Sprint): $75-100
Used, in excellent condition Palm Pixi Plus (AT&T): $150-175

The reason for me picking the AT&T version is that here we do not have Verizon, and from my understanding I will not be able to use Verizon CDMA with Sprint CDMA and viceversa. AT&T is actually decent here, despite some of the same issues as in the states (mainly, crappy plans and some dropped calls). I'd be getting an off-contract plan with either Sprint or AT&T.

As of now, the Palm Pre Plus seems like the best choice (IMO).

Please give me your thoughts.

Nexus One ~$200-250 used

It has the largest developer following so you're bound to find a ROM you'd like.
