is there a reason for this?
isn't it suppose to be 74gb when formatted?

Should be 78gb if there's nothing on it. Is this a blank format or Vista is installed on it?

You might not have used the entire partition. Right click on my computer -> Manage -> Disk Management. Find your disk, and see if there are any "Unallocated" partitions.

Delete Vista and you'll have 74.4gb.

Sometimes common sense fails us

This is really a useless post, as the OP did not specify if the drive was a system drive or a separate drive.

Yes it should be 74.4GB when formated but check in drive management for part of the drive being in a different volume.

thanks that fixed it, for some reason when I tried to install Vista it only showed 66.5 after I deleted everything, but I am able to find the missing 8GB in Windows
