I'd say doubtful,

It's an entry level heatsink. Maybe with some epic fans it might do it, you'd probably spend more on fans than you would on the HS.

the 212+ is a great budget cooler

not a high preformance cooler
you may need a Noctua d14 or liquid for that kind of job
post #4 of 9
Hmmm.. It would get you at 4.0Ghz no problem (I'm not sure of this).

But if you want something like 4.5Ghz or more. You need something greater than the Hyper 212+.

I recommend the Noctua NH-D14, H70, or if you wanna go Liquid Cooling; buy the XSPC Rasa 750 240mm Kit.

BTW, the NH-D14 performs a little better than the H70. And the Rasa Kit is JUST a little more expensive than the H70, perhaps $30.

So, I'd just buy the Rasa kit

I don't know what you all are saying but I am at 4.8 GHz with mine for 24/7 use and I don't see temps above 65c (22c ambient). Which I think is damn good for the money. Sure you can get a D14 or Silver Arrow but that may make a few degree difference at most but those cost nearly 3 times the price.

I dare say the 212+ is the best sub $60 cooler you can buy...at $30!!! It keeps my 950 4.14HT between 75-80C. I'm sure it can push SB to 4.8HT any day

yeah the 212+ is amazing for the price honestly, especially with that extra fan in push/pull, I have 2 775 systems running them and my i7 has noctua NH-D14 and the temps are comparable for sure
