Max safe CPU temp AMD N830

Thread Starter
Hi guys, I was wondering what temperatures are within safe range for the AMD Phenom II X3 N830 because I was quite surprised when I saw 60celsius just browsing, it gets down to 52-53 idle now and it hits about 83 in prime95.

Is this on a stock cooler ?
Is it OCed ?

Sounds a bit too high, but how are you looking at the temp AMD Overdrive ?

Have you got some TIM (thermal grease), because that CPU may need to be reseated, but before that check if all the fans are working and the heat sink on the CPU is on right and Clean.
Its too hot for my liking my X4 idles at 33 and under heavy load 48.

I got it a few months back, I would hope they put thermal compound on before I bought it. I really don't want to have to do anything with the CPU right now though since I have no experience with the insides of a laptop.

Well, I know the fan is working, its just it doesn't spin particularly quickly until I hit 80 degrees.

So its a repaired lappy, did you ask the guys that sold it to you what temp is recommened, or better yet talk to tech help from the manufacturer.

My suggestion is don't run prime on a lappy, and just see if you can find some specs on the net or in your manual, lappys run hotter than desktops 60 is prolly ok but 80+ sounds way too hot.

Also see if you can get hardware monitor it works well for me (checking temps)
Just so you know the readings on temps from software like fanspeed and HWmonitor are not totally accurate they can be out by a fair bit.

That might be the point that the manufacturer thinks that it can not go passed, so it could be OK but I would just get a can of Air Duster and blow out the fan and vents (lappy is off when you do this) once every few weeks.
And maybe if you use it at home on a desk get a lappy cooler for it to sit on.

It was brand new when I got it. I also got similar readings with AMD Overdrive. But thanks I'll see if I can contact the manufacturer.

You don't want to overclock a laptop.
