980x overclock, please give suggestions.

Hello, I am not trying to go past 4GHz, I just want to know if my settings are all good and what I can do to stabilize even more the oc I currently have, I've ran P95 and Intel Burn Tester and it seems stable! I've ran all benchmarks and they all run without a problem, I've also gamed for 5+ hours and no problems, I just like to know if there's anything more that I can do to make this overclock better.

I currently have my vcore at 1.26 and was wondering is that safe? Will I have any problems?

I'm currently running the Asetek Water Cooling, I have a Rampage III extreme and a 980x processor.

i'ts not the best score, but the voltage is acceptable for this clock.
Normal temperatures...
you could try reducing the timmings of your RAM. (9-9-9-24 )---> (8-8-8-21)

Edit: Run PRIME95 (blend test), to check the stability, if your games are running well, doesn't mean your system is ok.

Depends on how long you been running Prime95 of course. Also are you games demanding ones? Like Crysis, Hawx 2, Dirt 2 or equal. If been such ones, 5 hours sounds like a really good sign. I would think it is stable, but if you want to be 100 % sure run Prime95 for 24 hours.

Hello guys, I ran p95 for 5 hours last night and I just stopped it and all my threads said 0 errors, games I usually play are black ops, crysis, warhead, so yes it's the intensive one, I also heard you can run like futuremark 2011 and vantage and run the physics tests and if it crashes your unstable but it never crashes. My highest temp was 75 degrees though, is that about right?

You seems to be ok. 99% stable I would say. But of course when talking overclocking as mentioned before, 24 hours Prime95 is only 100% stable test.

I will work all day tomorrow so the pc will be on prime for 24 hours, another question is 75 degrees for max on prime95 stress test sound good for my cooling/cpu? What's the max temp I should get before worrying for a 980x?
Most people use 85C or so as the top temp in P95 since it'll actually be about 10C less in real world applications. Even in Folding@home.

1.26 is more than safe. I've seen people running 1.4+ for over a year had no problems. 1.375 is the max according to Intel so if you want to stop there you shouldn't have a problem.

I'd keep pushing that chip until it crashes in p95. 4.2+ should be easy mode on a 980x.

On another note you might want to bring your QPI voltage down as well as your PLL. A lot of people have been able to reach better overclocks by lowering the PLL to 1.72-1.77.

I lowered my CPU PLL to 1.51050 and it's been stable. Tonight I'll be running p95 for 24 hours and see how that goes.

Ye well of course Prime95 doesn't show 100 % true one. But if you example run demanding games or some more "real" applications 67,9 Celsius should be max I read.

Thanks for the help guys, now I am down to 1.2 volts tested for 24 hours. What I did was I disabled HT and lower my CPU PLL and it's been stable at 1.2v ever since, thanks!
